Marijuana is popping up everywhere and in many forms

Marijuana is popping up everywhere and in many forms

As far back as 5000 years ago marijuana was used to treat medical conditions and used in spiritual ceremonies.

Marijuana remains illegal under federal law in the United States. But state marijuana laws are continuing to change. More than 20 states now permit the sale of marijuana for medicinal use, whether inhaled or consumed via other methods, or given in a prescription drug. Currently, 2 FDA medications on the market, Marinol (dronabinol) and Cesamet (nabilone) are synthetic cannabinoids used to treat nausea or neuropathic pain. Other drugs in clinical testing include Epidelix for childhood seizures and Sativex for cancer pain.

Cannabidiol is also a popular remedy used for many ailments. Cannabidiol or CBD is one of over 100 chemical compounds found in the cannabis or marijuana plant. (Cannabis Sativa) THC or tetraydrocannabinol is the main psychoactive element found in cannabis, and causes the sensation of getting high that is often associated with marijuana. Unlike THC, CDB does not have that psychoactive effect?

Armed with this knowledge what is the medical usage for Marijuana or its compounds?

Marijuana has been used to treat pain as far back as the 2900 B.C. era.

More recently scientists in research laboratories have discovered that certain compounds of Marijuana, including CBD, are responsible for pain reducing effects.

CBD oil may reduce chronic pain by reducing inflammation. An oral spray called Sativex, when mixed with THC and CBD, is approved in several countries to treat the pain related to multiple sclerosis and arthritis.

According to the WHO (World Health Organization) depression is the single largest reason for disability, while anxiety disorders are ranked sixth in the world population. Depression is usually treated with prescription medication that has a host of side effects and these medications can become addictive.

CBD oil has shown promise for both depression and anxiety.

Studies are being carried out in all corners of the world pushing medical discovery boundaries establishing validated research for all types of ailments that CBD oil and Marijuana can improve.

In conclusion:

The Marijuana and CBD /CBD oil industry is quickly changing offering many patient suffering from a host of ailments relief. The medical community and state governments have been slow to adapt their practice and policies to acceptance of the use of Marijuana and CBD products; however, there is a measurable movement to include Marijuana and CBD products in the treatment of patients with qualifying ailments.

Marijuana is illegal on the federal level, but is legal under some state laws. Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal on the federal level but are still illegal under some state laws. Nonprescription CBD products are not FDA – approved and may be inaccurately labeled as well.

This is the dawn of a reemergence of a natural plant and its compounds to be used to help mankind with many illnesses that have plagued man throughout the centuries.
